What data the app processes

In short: The app does not collect personal data. It has no account, no ads and no analytics, and sends nothing to us or to third parties.

Camera. The app uses the camera to take a picture of the page you want to copy. The picture is processed only in your device’s memory and is not saved to your photo library, to Files or anywhere else. The app keeps only the latest copy, so that you can view, print or listen to it again from the start screen; a new copy replaces it. If you were away from the app for 5 minutes or longer, it is deleted as soon as you open the app again. If iOS closes the app before that, it is deleted as well. The magnifier only shows the camera picture; a held picture stays in memory and is gone as soon as you leave the magnifier. It is never saved.

Printing. To print, the app sends the copy through AirPrint, the printing feature of iOS, directly to the printer you chose. The copy goes only to that printer on your network. The app stores on your device which printer you chose, so you don’t have to choose it every time. You can reset the choice in Settings under “Klarkopie” → “Choose printer again”, or delete the app.

Reading aloud. To read aloud, the app recognizes the text in the picture and reads it with your device’s voice. Both happen on the device, without the internet. The text is not stored and is deleted together with the picture.

Share. When you tap “Share”, the iOS share menu opens with the copy as a PDF and as a picture. You choose there where the copy goes; the app learns nothing about it and never sees your contacts. The files stay in a temporary folder of the app only while the menu is open and are deleted afterwards.

Settings. Whether voice guidance is on, which speaking rate and text size you chose for reading aloud, and whether copies print automatically, in black and white or in shades of gray, is stored only on your device. Everything the app stores is removed when you delete the app.

No sharing. We receive no data from the app. There is no connection to our servers or to third-party servers.

Purchase. Apple handles the purchase through the App Store. Apple’s privacy policy applies; we receive no information about you.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.
